Morocco> High Atlas> Ourika Valley

The Ourika Valley is located south of Marrakesh. Easily accessible, it is the most popular valleys of the High Atlas, where the presence of some tourist hotels. Beautiful Berber villages dot the valley. We recommend you to spend a day or a night of sleep (especially for hikers). Among the nice surprises of the valley, the bioaromatiques gardens enchant lovers.

Beyond the Haouz, it really gets into the Ourika valley, the landscape is more green, and the air becoming cooler. Enjoy a succession of points of view on the drug route Douars where the Kasbah of Ourika majestically dominate the valley! Beautiful walks you waiting for Khemis, Asguine, Aghbalou, Asgaour and Oulmès. Below Ourika winds through orchards, gardens and fields. In the spring, the colors of the valley are stunning. Aghbalou being the largest village on the Oued Ourika, a stop is required. Do not miss the brick mosque, unexpected changes of classical Islamic art. The place is lovely for a gourmet break on the river. The road finally stops in Setti Fatma, at 1500m altitude. This peaceful village is a perfect starting point for many walks in the valley. The best is probably hiking the seven waterfalls. It takes 1 hour walk round trip, so wear appropriate footwear as the ground can be slippery when it rained. You can also go for a walk in the hills of Setti Fatma, towards the woods. After 2:30 you climb you'll have earned a picnic lunch under the trees, facing a picturesque panorama of the Douars Valley. Beyond Setti Fatma, a track continues towards Tadrart, ideal bike or 4X4.
